Happy Wedding Wednesday!
Can I just say I seriously look so forward to Wednesdays now?! I am SO happy you guys found last week’s wedding planning checklist to be helpful! Seriously, it is something I really wish I had when planning my wedding!
Today we’re talking beauty – wedding day beauty, that is! This is something I think most brides stress about.
First of all, I want to say you will be beautiful. It will be your wedding day, and YOU WILL BE BEAUTIFUL. Whatever image of perfection you have in your head, whatever Pinterest picture you have mentally screenshotted and engraved into your visions of wedding day beauty, please please please get it out. Replace it with a picture of you – you at your very best and times that by ten because it’s your wedding day and your smile will be brighter, your heart so much happier and your overall self a little more sparkly.
So, I guess that’s my first tip:
1.\\ Look like you. The person you’ll be walking down the aisle to fell in love with your face, trust me, they’ll just be happy your walking towards them.
You will be your toughest critic always. So, do yourself a favor and look like you. If you don’t like your hair up any other day of your life, you’re not going to like it up on your wedding day. If you wear fake eyelashes, full coverage foundation, a full contour, a lipliner, lipstick and lipgloss for every other occasion (like me), this is probably not the time to try out that natural look you’ve been thinking about.
My advice on this one is simple: be yourself with a little extra on your day. Glam up your day-to-day just a tad, and you’ll be happy with your look and your pictures for years to come.
2.\\ DRINK WATER. Oh Mylanta, this is a big one. Your skin, your hair, your makeup application, your body, your mood… (I could go on for a while), they’ll ALL be better and feel better if you drink water consistently in the week or so leading up to your wedding day.
I really try to be good about water intake all the time, but I stayed on myself extra that week, and I’m so happy I did.
3.\\ Plan ahead and don’t be afraid to be picky.
So, I said to scratch that picture of perfection from your brain, but I do believe in gathering inspiration. So, yes, look at those pretty Pinterest pictures and get ideas for your hair, your make-up, etc.
Schedule your make-up and hair trial in advance to talk through your ideas, show your saved inspiration photos and try them out. The last thing you want to do is to try out something you haven’t seen on your own self on the day of your wedding. Even if you know you like your hair half up and half down, but you’ve found that pretty poofed up do with a twist in the back, it could look different on your head than you’ve imagined. If you take time to plan it out, you’ll be better able to adjust the looks.
4.\\ Go for long lasting!
This is not the day to be anti-hairspray. You might not like it day-to-day, so this is my exception to rule #1. Even if you don’t love it, give your hair a little extra hold, trust me, you’ll be glad you did when you’re about 7,000 dances in on your wedding night and your hair still looks *Beyoncé voice* flawless.
Also, set your make-up with a setting spray. I LOVE this one.
I promise, I’ll be sharing my wedding day make-up routine very soon. *hint hint* it may or may not be one of my first YouTube videos…;)
The absolute most important thing you could take away from this post is that you’re going to be a beautiful bride. I know you will.
So, please don’t stress about it too much. Get your ducks in a row, save a few pictures and envision how they’ll look on YOU. Practice them, and keep that look on yo’ face/hair for the whole night.
I’d love to see your wedding day looks, so I have an idea. Tag me in your favorite pictures of yourself from your wedding on instagram! I want to see your gorgeous takes on wedding day beauty and leave some happy words in the comments. 🙂
I pray you’ll have a happy and blessed rest of your Wednesday (or whatever day you’re reading this)!
All my love!
